Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) said it found fingerprint match with the “hijacker” with one Md Palash Ahmed, a criminal from Narayanganj’s Sonargaon.
Mufti Mahmud Khan, director of the elite force’s legal and media wing, confirmed The Daily Star of the development this morning, 17 hours after the incident.
He added, the BG 147 Flight had a seat reserved to Ahmed/Md Polash. He was a passenger of domestic flight from Dhaka to Chattogram.
Previously, after the commando operation neutralised the “hijacker”, authorities at the airport said he identified himself as one Mahadi, a man with his mid-20s.
